WHAT IS THREADS WITH PURPOSE?

IT ALL BEGAN AS A FUNDRAISER.
In 2018, I was heading to Ethiopia as a volunteer humanitarian filmmaker for the second time in two years. For my first trip, I had asked friends + family to support my dream so I could afford the airfare and they graciously contributed every penny I needed. But when the opportunity to return came so quickly after the initial trip, I knew I wanted to creatively “earn” their support so I taught myself how to macramé. In six short months, I sold enough plant hangers + wall hangings to cover my entire airfare! And the overwhelming love for these macramés has encouraged me to keep going.

SO IT CONTINUES AS THREADS WITH PURPOSE.
I believe that we are #knotjustthreads but an interwoven tapestry and when we come together, beautiful things can happen. No one thread is of greater value. And no two threads are the same. With every sale, I invite you to choose a project you would like to support. My hope is that it would connect you to some incredible work that is being done around the world. DO YOU TEACH WORKSHOPS?

Short answer —Yes! Local to the Chicagoland area? (or willing to cover my travel expenses 😉?) Wine Knot Nights are workshops with a twist. You gather your people, and I bring the workshops to you. Contact me to schedule an event.
OR, for those who aren’t local or are interested in a virtual creative experience to do on your own, check out one of my kits. You’ll receive a kit with all the materials needed, plus a link to an online tutorial video. Check back for upcoming workshops or follow along on Facebook + Instagram to be the first to know how to sign up to get your knot on.

WHERE DO YOU SHIP?

To be honest, calculating shipping is the most daunting task of this small business because every item I create is unique in size + weight. So my website is currently set up to ship to the United States. If you are international and wanting to shop Threads With Purpose, THANK YOU! Please contact me directly, I am more than willing to calculate shipping + create a custom listing for your order.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MACRAMÉ CORD + STRING?

The Fiber Arts Community is filled with passionate women supporting other women + it is an honor to be apart of it. So I actively try to source all the fibers I use from other small businesses who are committed to the planet + its people. I research where + how my suppliers get their cotton rope + yarn to verify that it is Oeko Tex Certified and spun using sustainable practices. Many of the speciality fibers are fair trade, recycled, and small-batch indie-dyed. While every piece I make varies based on cord availability + project needs, the standards from each company I use remain the same. My current go-to suppliers are Ganxxet, Niroma Studio, + Modern Macrame.
